About

There has yet to be any kind of consensus regarding the shape Jewish same-sex weddings should take. On the contrary, couples and rabbis have created a plethora of approaches, adapting and inventing practices that reflect Jewish history through the lens of modern values and understanding. This is, to our knowledge, the first attempt to assemble, organize, and dissect those approaches.

About the name

In the traditional sheva brachot, we beseech God that speedily there should be heard in the cities of Judah and in the courtyards of Jerusalem the voice of joy (Kol Sasson – קול ששון) and the voice of gladness. We add that our tradition can expand to celebrate all couples and all of our joy (כל ששון).

Who we are

Hillel and Eli were friends nearly from birth. Three decades and change later, Hillel was complaining to Eli that figuring out a ceremony was difficult because there was no single repository of Jewish same-sex wedding resources and thinking. Eli responded that he had the same problem when he got married three years earlier. And so, to make sure no one else would have this problem in the future, they started this project.
